Speaking Life and Truth in Your Homeschool Day

In a homeschool day full of “Did you finish that?” and “Stop bugging your brother,” it’s easy to forget the power of our words. But Scripture tells us: life and death are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21).

Gary Chapman’s The 5 Love Languages of Children reminds us that words—especially words of affirmation—can make or break a child’s spirit. In homeschooling, our words don’t just teach—they shape identity.

Try weaving these life-giving phrases into your day:

  • “I love being your mom/teacher.”
  • “You’re doing hard things, and I’m proud of you.”
  • “God has great plans for you.”
  • “I see growth, even when it’s slow.”

Those words linger long after the math book is closed.
